Antiquing in the Snow

Here we are snowed in again for the second week in a row….I’m seeing  snow in an every Monday  pattern, yuck.  :/ Yeah, yeah…I know…it’s February. It’s New England…..whatever. I still hate it. I hate even more being trapped in the house all day. If you don’t know how hard it is to be carb free (#breadisforsuckas) while trapped in the house for the day…let me tell’s nearly impossible. I ate 2 chocolate doughnuts in like 15 minutes this morning. Sinful!!!! Even worse I am just bored. I have read a book, watched movies, cleared my DVR, baked, cooked…..reorganized my closet and I dare you to find dust in this house. What NOW?!

This is what I came up with…..A month or 2 ago I found this Facebook page called By The Shore Antiques, Thrift and More.   This is who they are, and what they do in their own words……

This is a private-listing page for items WE sell in the Shoreline area. Inventory will change every few weeks. Most of our offerings are antique, but there is a little bit of everything. Check back often. We are located in Clinton, CT in the Shoreline Area. We are antique-ers with some cool stuff that is priced to sell. Not quite tag sale prices but not as high as antique prices Note: We are NOT a business, rather a selling page.

Now I don’t know about you but this just embodies 2 of my favorite things…shopping and antiques! Even better I can bid on and buy things right from behind my computer, in my pj’s on a snowy day! Hooray!! Hooray! For me, my obsession with this Facebook page came in the form of a shell back, gold, velvet chair. It was a beauty. I saw it and knew I had to have it. I wrote “interested” beneath the picture and viola! This super sweet woman named Lisa was messaging me. I ended up walking away  with this chair for something like $20-$25. I almost felt guilty only giving her that much! It now sits in my living room adding some fabulousness to the room. antique chair

I literally stalk this page for stuff. ( I may be slightly addicted at this point, as I literally made a purchase mid blog while looking at her page in another screen) She has such an eclectic mix of things it’s easy to want a little of everything. Then there are the prices… simply can’t beat them. Being that I love antiques I have scoured stores in my area for things for awhile now and always  leave  feeling the same way……I love it all but can’t afford it. I mean $400 for 1 chair that is 50 years old is a bit extreme, no? I was so happy to have found Lisa and her Facebook page. I could now afford some of the things I have always wanted. She states on her items that you should make her an offer. This is something I tend to shy away from. I am the WORST  at making a deal. I am afraid of offending people. Not with Lisa. She makes you feel comfortable enough, where even people like me, can bid on items. What’s the worst she can say….No?!

Here are some of the awesome things she has up for sale now:

I have recently (for the first time) have started to refinish furniture. I will get more into that experience in another blog post.

In closing, all opinions on here are my own and in my opinion you would be a fool to not check out this page on Facebook. (please get to this page before I either am in debt from buying everything or am considered a hoarder from over buying. That link again is,

This design is incredible! You obviously know how to keep a reader entertained. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Excellent job. I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!
